Bowflex Series 7 Treadmill Review

Our Bowflex Series 7 treadmill review investigates the top of the range Bowflex treadmill, which with a powerful motor looks a good bet for runners – is it?

The Series 7 is the high end model in the current Bowflex range, which also includes the Series 3 and Series 5.

Whilst it’s almost identical to the Series 5 in most respects, there are a couple of upgrades that account for the extra $200 asking price.

Whilst the Series 5 is a decent choice for home exercisers wanting a moderate intensity workout, the Series 7 with its bigger motor would be the better choice for runners.

As with the 3 and 5, the Series 7 is a popular treadmill with postive ratings and sales figures to match at websites like Amazon.

So what makes it a popular choice and do you get value for money at the retail price of $1,999?

Bowflex Series 7 Treadmill Review – Features

Bowflex Series 7 Treadmill

As such, the Series 7 shares the solidity, build quality and stability of its less expensive stablemate. There’s really not a great deal of difference between the Series 5 and Series 7 treadmills.

Our Bowflex Series 7 treadmill review would contend that this is a well thought out treadmill – durable, compact and visually appealing.

It looks like a treadmill that warrants serious consideration from those looking to invest nearly $2,000 in a machine that will perform day in, day out for years to come.

The fundamental difference with the Series 5 is the motor. The Series 7 has a quiet 3.0 HP continuous duty motor that makes it much more suitable for running than the Series 5.

With a fairly modest top speed of 11 mph, the motor shows no sign of strain and all but the most serious athletes should be able to push themselves during each workout.

The running surface is identical to the Series 5 at 60″ x 20″, which is enough room to stretch out for even taller users.

What I don’t understand though, is why you only get a single ply belt at this price as the best of the competition come with double ply as standard.

On the plus side, you get the impressive ‘Strike Zone’ deck, with its generous cushioning system providing more than adequate support and stability.

The take off is firm and the landing comfortable, without a hint of the sponge-like qualities you can experience on excessively cushioned decks.

The deck really does feel forgiving on the joints and should minimise the chances of acquiring or aggravating any existing impact injuries.

This is of particular benefit if you intend running regularly on the Series 7 for long periods.

The rollers over which the belt runs are the same 2.5″ as on the Series 5, which helps to minimise belt wear and contributes to the deck’s smooth operation.

The deck inclines to 12%, which can make for a more intense workout and compensates for the fairly modest 11mph maximum speed.

The Series 7 folds up with little effort thanks to the ‘SoftDrop’ mechanism and should store away easily when not in use.

The electronic features are very similar to the Series 5, except you get 15 workout programmes as opposed to 12 on the 5.

The backlit LED console display is functional and in addition to the grip heart rate monitor, there’s telemetric heart rate monitoring.

The ‘quick-speed’ keys are handy and enable you to access your desired settings with one touch. A built in three-speed fan helps to cool you down whilst training.

The warranties are impressive with 15 years on the frame, 10 years on the motor, two years on the parts and a year on the labour.

Whilst the treadmill retails at $1,999, our Bowflex Series 7 treadmill review found it heavily discounted online and it’s currently for sale at$1,499 with free shipping at Amazon.ir?t=weilosforbusp 20&l=ur2&o=1 -

Bowflex Series 7 Treadmill Review – The Bottom Line…

The impression I’m left with following our Bowflex Series 7 treadmill review is one of pleasant surprise.

This is a better treadmill than I thought it would be and offers an affordable option against some excellent competition.

As with the Series 5, there are some aspects of the Series 7 that don’t quite cut it, but on the whole the treadmill adds up well.

But does it offer value for money?

I’ve got to be honest, there are better buys for $1,999 and if it was my money I’d be looking at something like a Sole.

Granted they’re a little more expensive, but you get what you pay for and you can normally pick them up at a sizeable discount online.

However, if you can get a discount on the Series 7 it becomes a different proposition.

As we said, you can pick one up at Amazon at the moment for $1,499with free shipping and at that price the Series 7 is a bit of a bargain – so do check Amazon for the current price.ir?t=weilosforbusp 20&l=ur2&o=1 -

If you want a treadmill for moderate intensity workouts or to help with weight loss, then the Series 5 is probably a better bet.

If you’re a runner and can stretch the extra $200, then the Series 7 is certainly worth a look.
