Simple, really. Fat contains 9 calories a gram, compared to 4 calories for protein and 3.5 for carbs. That’s around twice as many.

By reducing the amount of fat you eat, you reduce the total calories you consume and lose weight.

Eating fewer calories than you burn is the one cast-iron weight loss strategy. Cutting fat calories is probably the easiest way to do that.

The Low Fat Plan also encourages the consumption of complex carbs, such as wholegrains, fruit and veg, which are also high in fiber.

The fat that you do eat is mono- and polyunsaturated, which helps to reduce blood cholesterol levels and the risk of heart disease, so you’ll lose weight and improve your health and well-being!

It comes at a price though, around $3 a week and if you sign up for the fitness plan as well, you’ll be looking at around $20 a month.

Is it worth it? Take a look around the various forums, chat rooms and blogs and you’ll find mostly positive comments and testimonials so we’d suggest it was money well spent.

However, there are plenty of low fat books and free info available, so you could always design your own low fat diet plan at little cost if you can’t afford or don’t want to pay the eDiets subscription.
